Bees in Taiwan

Another great day in District 3510. The day started with a visit to Cheng Ching Lake. It was a beautiful spot with a very unique bridge called nine corner bridge. The foot bridge crosses the lake in a series of ninety degree turns that give you nice views in every direction. We were surprised to find a bee yard after crossing the bridge. There was a man there selling honey. He gave us samples which were very tasty with a fruity flavor. We next moved onto National Kaohsiung University for a very informative vocational visit for team member Beau Dooley. The College is 50 years old and has one many awards in applied sciences. Tuition is an unbelievable $1000 per semester. After a great Lunch, our next stop was The Taiwan Banana Research Institute. Team member Francie Kennedy was very interested in how kocal farmers market their banana and other crops. We met the Station Chief Te-Sheng Lin and had a very informative presentation by Researcher Shih-Chao Chiang on the history of the banana, the diseases that cause problems and how they have managed to develop resistant varieties which have saved the banana business in Taiwan. Our journey then took us to a temple where we learned more about the Dao religion and then finished off the day with another fantastic dinner in the company of new good friends.
