Started off today with a visit to Kao Yaun University. The school is 20 years old. The size of the school has grown rapidly as their students get a great education and are very employable in Taiwan and other countries. They have also established ties with industry to do high tech research in partnership with local business. The schools President is a very gregarious fellow who used to be a congressman in Taiwan. Like many people in Taiwan he studied in the US. He has a minor in statistics and helped pay for college using a set of statistics he developed for one of his classes to bet on dog racing. The school also has a museum dedicated to the aboriginal people of Taiwan.
